Question:

What type of wheels do i have on my car?

Answer:

Most modern cars these days come with alloy wheels fitted as standard or optional extras, some cars do however have steel wheels.

The most popular is made of aluminium and fully painted / powder coated. (Photo 1)

More common on new cars over the last few years are diamond cut alloys, much the same as a standard alloy but the face or rim of the wheel will be diamond cut leaving a shiny polished look in some areas with the rest painted / powder coated. (Photo 2)

Not so common with only a few manufactures using them are split rim alloys, these can be two or three piece alloys and normally have a small bolts all around the rim to spoke area to join the pieces of the wheel together. (Photo 3)

Steel wheels are more common on light commercial vans and older cars, with the exception being wide steel wheels on some show cars.
